April 20, 1966 – April 20, 2016
Sister Paul celebrated her Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession on Wednesday, April 20, marking her fifty years as a Little Sister of the Poor. Her two sisters, Sr. Alphonse and Mother Alice, and friends traveled from near and far to help celebrate the joyous occasion and congratulate Sister Paul on her momentous milestone.
The Jubilee celebrations kicked off on Tuesday afternoon with the Residents, our Resident chaplain, staff and volunteers presenting Sr. Paul with kind words, gifts and cards of appreciations. The following day, Mass was celebrated by Cardinal William Joseph Levada, Bishop Joseph Brennan, Msgr. E. Gilb, Fr. Jacob Hsieh, and Fr. Chris Onyenobi. Our cantor Thomas Yep and his two young daughters accompanied Sr. Alphonse as the organist and Jacque Wong the flutist. Mary Murphy and Llyod Zuniga composed a beautiful hymn for the Communion Meditation, “Shepherd of Mercy,” in honor of Sr. Paul of the Immaculate’s 50th Jubilee. Following the Mass, a beautiful lunch was prepared and served by Jean Codero and family from a catering company called Sacred Occasions. The auditorium was transformed by them with festive gold and white décor and the stage became the wonderful world of Disney.
The staff, Residents and volunteers performed skits and songs from Disney in a presentation entitled “50 Wonderful Years.” Sr. Paul fully enjoyed her special day. Many Little Sisters, Sisters from other orders, family and friends came to offer their congratulations. Photography and videography were provided by talented volunteers so all the festivities can be enjoyed over and over again.
