Each and every one of our employees are very important to us, whether in nursing, dietary, housekeeping or those who work in the offices. Refugio, also known as “Cuco,” has been working in our kitchen for 31 years as dishwasher (making sure that our dishes, pots and pans are clean, but also the floors and the walk-in refrigerators are all kept clean and in good condition).
Cuco received a plaque of Jeanne Jugan in gratitude for all he has done for us these last 31 years, of which should be noted, with much joy! It was good to meet his family which included his children and grandchildren, along with his wife.
The special treat at his “Retirement Party” was to have a “Mariachi”, but not just any “Mariachi” but one that Cuco is a part of, for he plays the accordion with the group. Some of the Residents sang along, but one could not contain herself and began to dance along with the music.
Cuco will be missed, but we wish him “God Speed,” He now has time for his two great loves: his Family and his dear “Mariachi” band!
