Each May, thousands of Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes,
and of Malta (commonly known as the Order of Malta) gather from over 40 countries at the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France.
With them are the maladies (patients with serious illness) who come for healing, support and fellowship. The Western Association(U.S.A.) of the Order supports approximately 40 malades in a weeklong pilgrimage to Lourdes. Since not all persons who seek healing can travel the great distance, for one day each year we attempt to bring the experience of Lourdes to Southern California for all of the faithful.
We are grateful to the Little Sisters of the Poor for generously welcoming us to Jeanne Jugan Residence in San Pedro.
Our many thanks to Bishop Edward Clark & Fr. Ed Bennioff for presiding at the Mass and for anointing of the sick.
