The Annual Lourdes Day was hosted by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta®
Each May, thousands of Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta (commonly known as the Order of Malta) gather from over 40 countries at the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France.
With them are the maladies (patients with serious illness) that come for healing, support and fellowship. The Western Association (U.S.A.) of the Order supports approximately 40 maladies in a weeklong pilgrimage to Lourdes. For one day each year, since not everyone who seek healing can travel the great distance, we attempt to bring the experience of Lourdes to all of the faithful in Southern California.
We are grateful to the Little Sisters of the Poor for generously welcoming us to Jeanne Jugan Residence in San Pedro.
Our many thanks to Msgr. Sal Pilato, Msgr. Eugene Gilb and Fr. Mike Grieco for presiding at the Mass and for anointing of the sick.
