Our Mother’s Day Fashion Show and Tea
The hardest part of a long winter is waiting for summer to arrive. Short drab days are replaced by morning sun at 6 and dusk at 9. Our bodies and spirits revive with the coming of the warmth and light. As Shakespeare said, ‘Now has the winter of our discontent become glorious summer.’ With these words, Terry Szymczak introduced the Fashion Show which she produced and narrated for our Mother’s Day celebration
Models for the production were Residents, employees and volunteers. They donned clothing in a whirl of seasonal colors and fabrics as they made their way through a summer landscape. There were casual fashions for shopping, backyard parties and outings to the zoo, ocean and a garden show. More dressy options were modeled for attending the theater, the art fair and a summer luncheon. The finale was the sweetest tradition of summer – a June wedding, with the bridal party and the guests modeling exquisitely styled garments perfect for the occasion.
Matthew Stoneman accompanied the show with favorites such as Yankee Doodle Dandy, In the Good Old Summer Time, Ain’t She Sweet, Summer Place and other delightful tunes.
In attendance were many friends and family of the Residents who enjoyed the entertainment and delicious tea that followed. Everyone appreciated the generosity of Terry, her cast, Matthew and the production crew in organizing such a pleasurable day.
