On Saturday, October 20, 2012, the Volunteers for the Little Sisters of the Poor held their annual Holiday Boutique which is now a 32 year fundraising community tradition. It attracts participants from all over Los Angeles who enjoy the shopping plaza and food court options.
It was such a wonderful surprise to have Mary Lou Binzer among our shoppers. (Picture in the center) Mary Lou is an Association Jeanne Jugan member from Baltimore. While visiting her sister Phyllis Cordrey and her husband Larry in Southern California, they decided to attend the Boutique. What a flurry of excitement as many of our AJJ members enthusiastically welcomed them.
“Knowing the proceeds are important to the work of the Little Sisters makes this a very popular event. Many of our supporters have been coming for years. They enjoy the shopping and the friendly environment. This year we added a delicious
Mexican meal which was a big success,” said Jan Borelli, a long time volunteer.
We thank our wonderful volunteers who spend many hours organizing this event. We also thank the Knights of Columbus, the local Boy Scouts and their leaders, local merchants who contribute gift certificates and merchandise, and the many individuals who generously donate baked goods, collectibles, jewelry and much more for our sale. We are already looking forward to our 2013 Boutique.
