Hamid Ala, one of our volunteers, who has been studying voice for several years and is a very gifted singer, he sang for us at the Golden Jubilee of Sr. Paul in April. After the Jubilee, he decided he wanted to have a Benefit Concert for the Home. He talked to friend of his that also went to “El Camino College” in Torrance California, all taking voice, but who had been helped by a music Professor who had died in January of 2015. They decided it would be a good tribute to their music Professor Hedley Nosworthy, who was very well loved by his students. The different performers sang all kinds of music; from jazz to light opera. One of the students said that she wanted to sing Jazz, but Dr. Nosworthy introduced her to Porky and Bess, which is light Opera, she never thought she could do it, but with his help, she was able to do it.
After Hamid was able to get gather his friends for the concert, it was decided the proceeds of the Concert would benefit the Little Sister’s Homes in our “South America Water Filtration Project.” This is a recent project that we have started to help the Homes in South America who do not have good clean water, to supply water filters in these Homes. We take clean water for granted, but in many of the countries where the Little Sisters are present, they do not have water filters to supply clean water, so the Sisters have to buy bottled water for drinking water. Now we are trying to help those Homes so that they too may have clean drinking water.
We thank Hamid and his many friends who helped us to purchase a water filter (these water filters that would be suitable for the size of our Home cost about $800.00).
