We were invited for a “Pre-opening” of a new “Stone Fire Grill” in Torrance, which is a Restaurant that one could say that the owners have “adopted us” by providing a meal each month for the whole Home.
We were 65 in all, with Residents, staff, volunteers and Association Jeanne Jugan members. We loaded up in cars, buses, even one of the City buses that was rented by the Stone Fire Grill for the occasion.
When we arrived the owner along with their staff were lined up to greet us and some even went as far as to push Residents in wheel chairs into the Restaurant, to get their places. After being seated we were offered a beverage and ready to eat.
Our Chaplain, Fr. Jacob Hiesh, O. Praem, Blessed the Restaurant, first blessing the Kitchen, then the main body of the Restaurant. After the Blessing, Mother Marguerite then gave a plaque to the Owner in gratitude for all they do for us. For every monthly they provide food for a meal for the whole house, along with several times during the year for special occasions, such as the feast of St. Jeanne Jugan, the Christmas parties for our Residents and staff.
Then the food came, one thing after another. With salads along with Pizza, Tri-tip beef, garlic mash potatoes. Then the dessert was a sampler of desserts that they have.
After the meal, we all went home, not just full of food, but touched by the generosity of those from “Stone Fire Grill”. We wish them well with our prayers of gratitude for all the love they have shown us.
