In most of our Homes we can say that we have many funerals, and a few Baptisms, but rarely do we have a wedding. We had the joy of having a wedding of Joseph and Maryann Frick who I might add have been married for 47 years. Yet, they had not been married in the Church!
After seeing with our Chaplain Fr. Jacob, O. Praem, they planned for February 17. After the date was set much planning began… Maryann’s Sister is a Little Sister and she was able to come for the wedding.
The Programs were put together and printed; the “Wedding Cake” was donated by a local bakery that donates to the Home. Flowers were donated and one of our employees did the arrangements for the dining room; favors were placed at each place in the dining room and were made by one of our housekeepers. All came together very beautifully.
Before the Mass began, one of the couples came over to give advice. When they got into the Chapel, another couple gave more advice. All had been so excited about the wedding, some decided to watch it on television, since they could watch the Mass on the television.
When they arrived in the dining room, many cheered them on, and once they seated themselves they were first toasted by Fr. Jacob, then Mother, followed by a Vietnamese Resident who has been married to his wife for over 65 years.
The cutting of the cake was a fun time, just right to top off a nice meal. All had a great time, and the Residents felt like part of the family.
