The Living Way of the Cross
As we came close to the end of the season of Lent, many of our Residents took it to heart to be in “The Living Way of the Cross”. Although this was not just another play for most of the Residents because this was about the Passion of Christ! There were 14 Residents who were in the Living Stations along with 5 Employees who did such things as narrate, one of the guards, the Blessed Mother along with lights and costumes and director. A Couple of volunteers helped with the music and props and one of our Associates was another Narrator.
After going over and over the text and how to portray people such as Pontius Pilate and the guards, the Residents worked very hard at “perfecting their parts”. They did that by choosing their costumes, reading over the text, reading scriptures and praying about their parts. The Resident, Thomas, who played the part of Jesus, prayed with his wife every day during the rehearsals so that he would do as Jesus would do.
The script was very beautiful and brought tears to many eyes. This was an opportunity for our Residents to share their faith with other Residents and those who attended the “Living Way of the Cross” and was a good preparation for Easter.
